Vic: Criminal law group opposes youth private prison

MELBOURNE, Feb 25 AAP - A privately funded youth training centre would be "a tragic waste
of money" a criminal law group said today.
The Criminal Bar Association's juvenile justice spokesman Richard Bourke said the money for
the State Government's proposed privately operated youth jail could be better spent elsewhere.
"The Government could do far more to reduce youthful offending by injecting badly needed
funds into the rehabilitation of existing young offenders in the community," …
